View Full Version : Question about weather
Hello Everyone,
Here I am again. I am suppose to fly from sfo to atlanta and then orlando in Jan to go to disneyworld. But now, I am thinking about flying to sfo to salt lake city and then orlando. Can anyone tell me how is the weather in Salt Lake city in the beginning of Jan? Plus, is there a lot of turbulance from sfo to salt lake city and there to olando? Thank you.

Hi Zoea,
www.weather.com (http://www.weather.com) is a great resource for finding out all kinds of information about the weather. You can search for a specific city, then go down and click on "averages", and that will tell you the average temperature and precipitation for each month of the year. Here is the link with the Salt Lake City information.

I don't know how the turbulence "usually is" in January. There are some famous ski resorts in the mountains to the east of Salt Lake City...and they do get a lot of snow in the winter. Maybe the commercial pilots here will share their weather experiences in January from around that area. But it will probably only be a general answer, since no one knows the exact weather months ahead of time. They always do their best to find as smooth a ride as possible, and use their radar and information from other pilots who have flown ahead of them to determine where to fly. Hope this helps.
 That is what I am actually doing. I am trying a route that would be a smoother ride to orlando. I know I am putting to much energy into it but I am a scary flyer. I don't like to fly. And anything helps at this point. What helps me the most is listening to experiences from people that already have flown the destinations that i am going to. Thank you for all your advice. :)

You can't predict or control the weather so don't stress over it! The pilots will fly AROUND anything rough because they don't want to ride thru it either.
