View Full Version : Max Altitude?

Hi all...

I hope you don't mind my flurry of questions prior to leaving for PHL Saturday.

I was reading that a 737-300 has a max altitude of 30,000 ft. I have been tracking online my flights and right now I'm tracking my return flight and it says its current altitude is 34,000 ft.

Anyone know much about that??? I mean, I'm assuming that it is posing no danger for the plane to be flying a few thousand ft. above it's max alt.? Obviously, it's not hurting anything because it's headed toward BNA fine as I am watching it right now.

The return plane is another 300 series...so at least now I know what type of plane it is I'll be flying back home on too.

It's 37,000 for the 300 according to this site. Looks like a good place to get technical information. Nothing to worry about at 34,000.

Courtney,

Do you remember Ray talking about the invisible highways in the sky? Well the highway GOING to Philly is at 30,000 feet and the highway on the way back home is at 34,000 feet. They sure can't be the same altitude!

Stop worrying.

Kelley

I had kind of forgot that Kelley. It does make perfect sense though. :D

Still working on the not worrying though. ;)

The 300 goes to FL370 or 37,000 feet (it'll actually go higher, but anyway).... the Next Gen 737's (like the 700) goes to FL410, or 41,000 feet. I'm not sure where you're getting 30,000 feet from, but that is incorrect.

I can't recall exactly where I ran across that 30,000 ft. thing but it was online somewhere. In my mad dash to get information, I may have read something old and out of date.

Glad to hear the correct stats...looking for my Xanax bottle as I type...

Well, be careful what you read, I guess. Or, more imporantly, be careful what you read into. That's one of the big things with this FoF thing.

The real trick is to learn not to read into anything, but of courst that is easier said than done sometimes.
