View Full Version : So annoying

In a couple of weeks I'm flying to the Bay Area for 2 nights. I'll need maybe a duffel bag to carry my very minimal stuff. But if I want to bring toothpaste and MASCARA, for cryin' out loud, I have to check my bag. What a royal pain in the butt. I would not even mind so much except it seems so stupid that I can bring knitting needles or a short-bladed knife or a safety razor which I could secretly disassemble to extract the blade. So many of the rules now just seem foolish and inconsistent.

Yeah, I can buy toothpaste down there but I'm very picky about mascara and finding "mine" would just be stupid. I suppose I can mail my stuff to the friend I'm visiting, then mail it back to myself.

I HATE checking my bags. Too impatient, and too worried they'll go astray. I'm sure retrieving them is even worse now since we're ALL checking our freakin' bags.

Had to vent.

I flew the first day the new rules were implemented, and I had expected that to be the case too, but it wasn't. Baggage claim didn't seem any more crowded than usual, and neither did the carousels. Hopefully you'll experience the same!

On the plus side, there's no fighting for overhead bin space anymore.

Thanks, Leslie. :) Good point about the overhead bin wars.

I'm sure things will be smooth. I was feeling extra grumpy when I posted the above. I suspect I have some mutated anticipatory anxiety going on since the publicity re: the bomb plot, not to mention the Lexington crash now, too.
