Hi, everyone! I have a 3 hour flight from boston to Fort Lauderdale the 22nd for a 3 night vacation with my fiance. Then a switchover flight home. Neither of us have flown since we were very young (we're both 20 now). Anyways, I get terrible motion sickness and DREAD the feeling of loosing my stomach, even during fast acceleration of a car. Thus, I am terrified of the way I'm going to feel especially during take-off and landing. My fiance isn't the slightest bit worried, but I am sick to my stomach thinking about it. I can get on small roller coasters, so I guess my question is, do you loose your stomach at all? Also, does dramamine work for dizziness etc well? I don't want to be sick afterward or during the flight if we hit bumpy patches. I'm worried I'll be crying the whole time because I'm already worried sick about the experience. All the news headlines arent helping either. Anyone else suffer from motion sickness??

I've been known to get carsick but I've never had that feeling on a plane. Dramamine sounds like a good thing to take along just in case you're more susceptible than I am. Also, if you have a few bumps during the flight, maybe that would bother your tummy so again it might be helpful to have the Dramamine.
Shortly after takeoff you will most likely feel the plane starting to level off a little, and it does feel something like coming to the top of a hill in a car, but it's nowhere near the sensations you have on even a small roller coaster. The feeling is normal so it shouldn't scare you, and I really don't think it would make you sick, especially if you arm yourself with the knowledge about what you're experiencing, and maybe practice some relaxation exercises to use in flight.

I should say right out that I don't get motion sickness, so I may not be your best source for this. But I don't think the bumpiness on a plane is nearly as bad as the bumpiness in a car or on the train. In fact, since I began using the commuter rail, the few little bumps you might get on the plane really don't bother me.

Hi!
I have only been motion sick in a car once or twice in my 35 years. I did however get very nauseaus on my flights in May. I'm not so sure it was because of the motion (there was some turbulence but not bad) or if it was just due to nerves. I did manage not to actually throw up though, and did take Dramamine before each flight. It will make you drowsy so don't take it if you're going to be driving or anything after the flight.
