Hi all...
I just joined today so I thought I'd post a quick howdy. I found this forum through the DISboards (like this but for all things Disney, for anyone not familiar w/it).

My next flight is September 1st. Right now I'm ok but I'm sure as the time gets closer you'll see more of me around here! That trip is to Tampa (from NH) for a family event. I'm going by myself. A little anxious. Two weeks after that I will be flying again, but this time to Disney World with the whole family (!!!!!) so I'm really not worked up about that one. Go figure. No, actually, the fact that I will be on my way to my favorite place in all the world is what it's all about! I should have a motto that says "Will Fly for Disney!" Anywho....

It's been theraputic just reading some of the other posts here. I'm not the only one and I'm not the worst! I used to LOVE flying. Not sure just what happened to change that. Could be becoming a parent. I have a horrifying fear of leaving my kids motherless. Then I try to tell myself that could happen just driving down the highway! I think it's a control thing (or lack of it, when you're flying).

I seem to do pretty well on a flight, as long as it's smooth! One little bump and I get the dry mouth/sweaty palms and racing heartbeat.

Oh, maybe I should do a separate post on this, but since I'm here, can anyone tell me the exact reason why you can't use electronic devices during take-off & landing? (for me it's an MP3 player) Is there a risk of some sort of interference? That's a real bummer for me since I can load that thing up with all sorts of music to get my mind on something else.

Anyway, it's good to be here!

I like your motto (its been my user name for years!).

Welcome to Taking Flight! I posted the link on the DIS. There are several DISers on here.

Read thru the forums and trip reports and feel free to ask any questions you may have or express any concerns. We are here to help!

It's partly due to possible interference with the flight instruments. But, for MP3 players, it's also because they want you able to clearly hear any instructions from the flight attendents during those phases of flight.

Welcome to Taking Flight! :tiphat:
