Who would you most like to sit next to on a flight?
My answer:
This question was actually inspired by my thinking about the president of Virgin Atlantic being on a flight my sister was on. I think I'd like the president of the airline to be on a flight I'm on; you can be sure that pilot would be careful as careful can be! Other than that, I'd like to sit between an airline pilot and another fearful flyer. That way, I can help comfort the fearful flyer (thus keeping myself occupied and in the right frame of mind), and the pilot would be there to explain any oddities. And maybe, just maybe, he'd be cute.

Captain Ray and Deb's Imaginary Friend! I'll take the middle seat between those 2 any day.

I think I sat next to Deb's imaginary friend on my last flight, actually. Nice guy, pretty quiet.

I'd also kind of like to be someone else and sit next to me. Because then I'd bet me a million dollars I couldn't name all of the states in alphabetical order.

LOL Erika - make sure you are a WEALTHY someone else when you do that!
Actually I think the most fun trip would be with ALL of you guys! :) It would be hard to decide who to sit with but I would want dibs on Deb's friend.

The best seat next to you in an airplane is an empty one. I think this is a universal principle.

I thought about this quite a bit the last time I flew, since I was flying all by myself (believe me, around this place, I'm NEVER by myself--even in the bathroom!).
My prayer was that I would sit beside either extremely interesting people, or people who needed my help. I figured that way I would be distracted from my FOF disability.
My prayers were answered. On the very first flight I sat next to a professor from a local university who grew up in Australia in a family with tons of kids. Yet he laughed his head off when I told him I had six kids. Go figure. He was VERY interesting, and the flight seemed short.
The next leg of my journey gave me an empty seat with a granny on the other side. She looked like such a classic granny, that I whipped out my pictures of the kids, and we were immediately busom-buddies. She ate a diet bar at snack time (Slimfast) and I at my diet bar at snack time (Atkins). And we both cried at the end of the movie. It was great!
On my first flight on the way home, though, I got a sleeper. She was out before we even took off. I wished I had whatever she was on! The second flight was cancelled, and I was stuck in Chicago until a late night flight. Sat by a man who spoke very broken English--he grew up in Russia, and also spent time in Israel. He was going to my town for a job interview. He was very interesting, but I was terrified on that flight. I tried to be hospitable--explained to him what the captain was saying (flight attendants remain seated due to turbulance), was going to let him listen to my iPod, but the batteries had died. And I thought I was going to throw up, because he clearly didn't have the American standard of cleanliness. But he was very nice and truly interesting. Too bad I was so scared!
In fantasy, I would love to sit by Tom Sellick. How could you be afraid with that huge, beautiful man by your side? Who better to die with?

Good question! I'd have to say my fiance, because he's big and strong, and the greatest source of comfort to me :)
