I am a frequent flyer, yet I am also someone who has anxieties during takeoff and turbulance. Landing and cruise are OK for me. However, this all multiplies when taking a Jetstraem J31 turboprop via AmericanConnection.
The plane is so small and the bumps are a lot more intense throughout flight. The plane ride is only 30 minutes. I don't understand how I can still be anxious after flying so much throughout my life.
Does anyone have any tips for me? Thanks

:welcome: Welcome, Metrorec, to Taking Flight! Hope you've had a chance to browse around the site a bit, and found some tips that might be useful to you. I've never flown in the Jetstream J31...here's a link with pictures of the plane and cockpit for reference: http://www.airliners.net/info/stats.main?id=55
Hopefully someone will be along soon who has experience in those smaller jets. Weekends tend to be a bit slower here at TF compared to during the week.
Have you discovered the "search" function? You need to be logged in to use it. You will find "search" in the blue bar near the top of the page (right hand side). Click on that, you'll get a white box. If you type "turbulence", then "search" you will be directed to a list of threads that contain the word "turbulence" in the postings ("turbulence" will be in red). There are MANY posts that have been written on this topic...so perhaps you will be able to find something that will be useful for you there. It's an issue that bothers many of us...but it's a passenger comfort issue, not a plane safety issue.
Looking forward to reading your posts....and happy flying!

Just an additional thought...have you ever considered taking flying lessons? That was suggested to me by a NWA pilot...at first I thought it was ridiculous. I thought about it for a couple months. Then, I just found myself attending Ground School, and then booking a "Discovery Flight", and then taking lessons in a Cessna 172SP. It's helped me a lot with my fears about turbulence, as I've been able to see just what's happening during a "bump"...how far we drop or climb, and that the plane seeks an equilibrium (for every "down", there's an "up" afterwards).
And one more...Check out "Ask Captain Ray", the "sticky" thread at the top of his page, "Captain Ray's helpful articles"...No.25 deals with turbulence.
