We have a gas wall heater in a fairly large room (office) in our house. It is putting off fumes that smell like diesel truck exhaust. Any clue why it would be stinking up the room like this? Do I need to have it checked out? Who do I call--the gas company?

Just wondered if any of y'all would know what to do. Thanks!

Jean

you aren't doing any painting or varnishing, are you? Gas units like water heaters and wall units can turn those paint vapors into other weird smells. If you can't resolve it, call the gas company. They usually come right away if there's any danger of a gas leak. Not something to take a chance with.

Jean,

Call the gas company!

Anytime you smell odd odors coming from a gas appliance, it is best to give them a call.

Thanks, all!

Yep, I'm STILL finding praying mantises around here. Found two just this morning.

About painting--we did do some painting downstairs last week, and the fumes were really bad that day. But would it STILL be stinking today???

I may call the gas company. Thanks for your help.

You guys are on my "Thankful for . . ." list this Thanksgiving!

Yep... I come from a Insurance Adjuster background. I now do SIU work... Special Investigation Unit... aka Fraud. Every Insurance Company has one.

For almost 23 years I have seen the worse end of the insurance policy.

Before I started in the SIU unit, I can't tell you how many times I have stood with families and the smoldering remains of their home, and they said... "I smelled something odd"

Jean... Don't mean to scare you... but some of those folks I have stood with, lost family members. I hope you called.
