Well here I am at work and "the network" is down. I had no idea how much we rely on our PCs being connected around here.

I can't work on anything (it's all either on the server, or requires connecting to a network database).

I can't check my e-mail, send e-mail, or schedule meetings (not even using the web e-mail portal).

I can't even print!

On the other hand, my plant is fully watered, and my desk is getting real clean.

I just noticed that this little guy (gal?):

:pompoms:

...is waving his/her/its arms in a way that looks just like semaphore (http://www.anbg.gov.au/flags/semaphore.html).

So I did a little research, and sure enough, the pom-poms are spelling this out, over and over again:

U-Y-H-U-R-U-Y-H-U-R-U-Y-H-U-R-U-Y-H-U-R-U-Y-H-U-R

I have no idea what that means.

- Jeff, still waiting for the network to come up

Are you sure there's no L in there?

Good grief, you DO have time to kill!! Maybe it's shorthand for "hurray" or the designer was working at a call center in India and thought that's how you spell it?

I think it's the communications officer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uhura) from the Enterprise, trying to contact us. It's easy to get a letter or two off with semaphores.
