My mom e-mailed me this. It's not a forward; it's something that actually happened to her.
_____________
This is a bit long, but I think everyone needs this info -- especially if you are using UPS this holiday season.
On Wednesday, when I arrived home from work, there were three very large boxes (delivered by UPS) on my front stoop. They nearly blocked the door. When I got around to bringing them inside, I quickly noticed they weren't mine! I did not recognize the name or the house number but knew it was on my road somewhere.
Now, I could be a good samaritan and try to find this place, although it means moving three somewhat heavy boxes, but I have my reasons for not doing it.
I live in a rural area, where the houses are far apart and the driveways are long. About 6 years ago, the UPS man decided to just leave everything at my house and let ME deliver it for him. After I had made about 15 different deliveries, over time, I finally called them and complained, and I got no more packages that weren't mine.
Recently, the UPS man has, again, been leaving everything at my house. I refuse to make anymore deliveries for them, but I did attempt to call the person whose name was on the boxes only to find out there is no listing for that individual.
I called the UPS 800 number Wed. about 5:00 p.m. They asked for the tracking numbers and my name & address and said someone would pick them up that evening. Thursday when I left for work, they were still there, but I assumed they would get them during the day. They were there last night when I got home.
This morning, when I got to my office, I called the local UPS office. (their number is "private" and unlisted, but I got it from someone who works at UPS and had it on my rolodex at the office). They said the driver would pick it up today. When I got home at 5, the packages were still there. I called the local number again, and they said they would pick them up this evening. Here it is, nearly 8 p.m. and they are still sitting out there.
In the event you place a mail order or are sending packages out of town over the holidays -- I have some advice: Use Federal Express!!!
