Hi everyone,

I was wandering if anyone tried hypnosis for FOF. I have done some reading on it, sounds very interesting and not as weird as I thought. It is basically getting to a relaxed state, to be able to access the subconscious, which is "responsible" for irrational fears. It is through the power of suggestion that we can change how we feel about phobias. I'm thinking about trying it. Has anyone tried it? Any feedback would be appreciated. I think that overcoming FOF is a combination of education about planes/flying etc.... and perhaps hypnosis can be used as another tool to help overcoming the FOF.
thanks for you help

:)

Aurora, I listened to Glenn Harold's Fear of Flying Hypnosis CD (available through Amazon), and found it soothing and relaxing, with positive suggestions to improve the flight experience. I like his British accent. It was one of many different approaches I used over the course of 10 months of "work" that took me from being "grounded" to taking my first flight in 13 years. For me it was helpful as one component of many "tools". Each book, CD, self-help program, therapy, etc. that I tried seemed to move me closer to comfortable flight...but I can't pinpoint one thing as being "the answer", and in any case am sure that it varies from one person to another. One thing about the hypnosis CD...I never felt like I'd lost control or anything...just got very relaxed and listened to his suggestions of how the flight would seem to go quickly, etc.
