I'm going to try to tread gently here, because I don't want to do anything that would get me into trouble at work, but I'm posting this not as a reporter but as a regular old concerned citizen.
Below is a link to a CBS talk show's website, a recap of a September episode in which a family whose story I've been following for the paper was profiled. (The Lemons). You can get the gist of their story on the show's site. However, I found out today that the family is losing its home at the end of the month and have absolutely nowhere to go. Habitat for Humanity is working to build them a house, but they don't have nearly enough money to do so yet.
I know the people on this board to be an extremely caring group of people, and even though I've tried my best to be impartial in my reporting, it is very difficult in this case. I wouldn't forgive myself if I knew there was any small thing I could do for these people that I didn't do. I've met these people. I know these people. And I know they're for real. People ask me all the time if they're as nice as I make them sound, and my answer is always, "they're better."
If there is anything you can find it in your hearts to give to these people any help at all, please do so.
