I just finished watching this DVD from Sporty's, and had promised to post a review. It is a beautifully filmed history of Van Nuys Airport (Los Angeles, CA). There are many interviews with famous WWII era aviators, as well as younger pilots currently flying out of that airport. There are many aerial sequences featuring a wide variety of planes, from aerobatic to jets, accompanied by pleasing music. There is no "scary" footage (no crashes or close calls). The only "scary" part is the discussion about how the U.S. is losing so many of our general aviation airports due to real estate development.
As far as helping fear of flying, this film could be helpful in that it shows aviation in a very positive light. You can tell from the interviews how much the pilots love to fly...and there are many take-offs and landings shown, as well as lots of gorgeous scenery seen from the planes in flight.
I will be adding it to my personal collection of FF resources...as one more in a wide variety of things that have helped me to experience flying in a much more positive way.
