I hate going to the dentist.. I have an appointment in 30 minutes for a filling and then DEEP SCALING!!!! This is where they clean under your gums and stuff.... I am as nervous as when I have to fly! :\

Jeff--

Too funny that you're going through this -- honestly -- keep reading:

So, you remember I told you how I smoked for so very many years then quit? Well, one of the "ordeals" I used to have to go through was deep scale planing at the dentist every couple of years or so. Borderline gingivitis, they said. Deep pockets -- you know -- you're going through it now.

Anyway, when I quit smoking, everything reversed. The borderline gum disease that I "had" is in remission, whereas, had I continued to smoke, my gums would've continued to deteriorate. I have to have cleanings every 3 months to keep it under control, but the dentist told me a few years ago, that because I quit smoking, I'll probably never have to undergo that procedure again!:hail

That was another incentive!!!:dancers

So, Jeff, this is the LAST time you'll have to do this. (were they doing it all at once, or in quadrants???)

Sympathizingly yours,

Deb

I know it's too late for this visit, Jeff...but next time ask the dentist to give you some nitrous oxide.

Here's a famous quote (guess whose?) attributed to nitrous oxide:

The question was posed by the author: what is the secret of the universe? the answer (under N2O) came as:

hogamus, higamus
man is polygamous;
higamus, hogamus
woman is monogamous!

So...a trip to the dentist might net you a place in history among the great philosophers... :lol

Jeff,

I hate the DDS as well!

But last Thursday I was in so much pain, that I was begging to go! Could not wait for my appointment!

A lot better, and smarter to take care of it early instead of putting it off I PROMISE!

Now taking antibiotics, and LOTS OF WATER! ha ha

I would rather have a GYN annual checkup IN an L-1011 (the plane I fear most) during severe turbulence than go to the dentist. Blech!

Just look at going to the dentist as you do getting on a plane. When you go in, ask the dentist how his day is going, what type of drill he's going to be using on you, if he expects any turb...well, maybe not that last one.

And remember, just like planes hardly ever crash, people hardly ever die at the dentist's office.

It's not the dying at the Dentist's office I am scared of, its the PAIN.

That's what laughing gas is for.

In fact, wouldn't it be great if we could get laughing gas at the airport?

My dentist doesn't have that!
