Sorry to be scarce lately but I have been taking care of my Mom (who turns 81 on July 4th) who has been battling a nasty case of the flu for a week now - even though she had the flu shot. Today she was in very bad shape so we had to call the ambulance to transport her to the hospital. A mere 7 hours in the ER and they finally find a room upstairs to admit her into. On top of that, my Dad's last living sister (out of 11 siblings) passed this week (she will be buried in Arlington on the 13th). Needless to say it has been a very rough week around here.

Please keep my family in your prayers and thoughts. I'm around but not much due to the circumstances and the lack of a high speed connection at the hospital.

Thanks!
Kelley

Kelley,

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

If I remember correctly, your Mom is a very active person, so this has to be double hard on her, so double prayers to her!

Don't worry about being scarce, you take care of your needs!

Hugs!

Thanks everyone. Mom is doing slightly better today but she is still very weak and in quite a bit of pain.

I spent most of the day at the hospital with her and my "Grandma Greene" who I dragged to the ER today after she had a stroke and fell down her front steps. :shakehead Grandma Greene is actually my parent's next door neighbor (she turns 85 this month) and I have called her that since I was a toddler. My biological grandparents all died when I was very young so Grandma Greene is more of my Grandmother then they ever were. She is the sweetest lady but FIESTY and Stubborn. I did ask the hospital for the buy one get one free special since Mom spent the day yesterday in the ER and was now on the 4th floor of the hospital and Grandma Greene spent today in the ER but the nurses weren't amused. Grandma Greene was not admitted amazingly despite having a blood pressure of 214/84 and severe pain and blindness in 1 eye. Please add her to the prayer list too. She can't get in to see her doctor until the 15th - even after a phone call from the ER doc urging them to get her in quicker. Ugh.

I need a NY fix in a BAD way about now. Ok selfish moment over - back to reality now. :)

Ken - thanks again for the Biscoffs. I throw a handful of these in my purse when I leave the house and share them with the hospital folks. Each time I hand one out I regale the recipient with the story of you sending me the monster load of cookies!

Deb - you're a great Fat Female. Boy Scott will run with that one..

Chelle, Jeff, Agne, Mark, Mark & Susan, Angela, Rebecca & Mon - thanks and hugs back! :grouphug:
