Hi All,

I have replaced the old Orlando Flight Fest thread with a new, fresh thread for updates and planning related to the Orlando Flight Fest.

Here's the latest:

Our big dinner shindig will be at "Spoodles" Restaurant at Disney's Boardwalk Resort at 5:50 PM on Saturday, October 29th. (Directions to Resort to Follow)

I chose spoodles, because it is casual but not loud, and there is plenty to do at the Boardwalk after dinner, should we choose to continue the Flight Fest into the wee hours. (There's a MicroBrewery, the ESPN Club, and a dueling pianos bar, and plenty of room to walk around and just stroll if you would like)

Here's a link to the Home Page for Boardwalk. Be sure to take the Virtual Tour:

I tried to keep the time a bit on the early side for dinner, that way if anyone has spent the day in teh parks and wants to go back into EPCOT for the fireworks, they will have time to do so.

So, that's the latest. Of course, if you need any advice on anything else to do that day, please feel free to let me know and I will help in any way I can.

Anyone up for a "Park Day" on Saturday. I will go along and play Tour Guide and MC if anyone wants to spend a day at one of the parks. EPCOT is within EASY waslking distance of the Boardwalk, so that may be an option.

And, for any newbies who are reading this for teh first time and wondering what the heck a "Flight Fest" is, here are some answers to questions:

1. What the heck is a Flight Fest? A Flight Fest is an opportunity for any of us who care to participate to get together and meet face-to-face. We can swap stories and share experiences, related and unrelated to the fear of flying. I would like the Orlando Get-Tegether to be even more than that. What I would like to see if folks turning this into a mini-vacation. If you have kids, BY ALL MEANS BRING THEM and let them enjoy the parks!! If you don't, there will be plenty of "adult" activities as well.

2. Why Orlando? I don't think anyone would actually ask this, but I'll answer this question nonetheless. Orlando is the perfect location for all FoF'ers, young and old, to get together! There are Restaurants Galore, Disney, Universal, Sea World, and a host of other activities. There are a number of other Aviation-Related activities nearby as well. More on that later.

3. Why Scott? Well, I'm here in Orlando!! I also used to work for Disney... My Dad still does, and my Fiancee is a manager at Universal's Islands Of Adventure! So, I sort of consider myself an expert in all things Orlando, and I have the inside track!!

4. Can I Come Too? Absolutely!! We are here to help you with your FoF in any way we can. You do not have to be a "Senior Member" or "Moderator" or part of any special group to attend. This is a come one, come all event folks! We have made dinner reservations for a large party, and I'm sure we can expand that too if we have to.

SEE YOU THERE!!!!!!

No need to re-post. The old thread is still there, it's just "un-stuck".

All,

I'll be posting directions here in the next few days to get to Boardwalk Resort on Saturday. I plan to visit the Parks on Saturday as well. Anyone else want to go??? It's also Food and WIne Festival at EPCOT right now, which is really cool! I just went yesterday with my cousin.

Can't wait to see you all soon!

Scott,

Do we have a current head count? As long as everyone's health holds up here I'll be there!

Can we also have some firm meeting times ( We leave in 9 days)

The only "firm meeting time" I have is Dinner at Spoodles at the Boardwalk on Saturday night at 5:50 PM. I figured the rest of the time, we can just get together in smaller groups, or do whatever suits us individually.

For those who will be in town on Friday evening, I was thinking of going out to CityWalk and going to Buffetts and maybe a few other places. Not too late, maybe beginning at Happy Hour. Any takers on that idea?

Like I said, I was thinking Saturday would be a good day to go to a park prior to dinner. I was thinking EPCOT. Anyone else interested? If so, we could meet somewhere in or around EPCOT that morning at, say 9:00.

Head count as near as I can figure is about 12-15 for dinner. I have a reservation for 20. Anyone care to come to Orlando?!??!? It's come one, come all and should be a blast!

Think we may be up for Epcot and maybe City Walk.We may do Universal during the day on Friday. We have no firm plans for anything this time.

Everybody,

I've been PM'ing a bunch of you, so I think we have everybody on board.

Here's the plan for Saturday...

There's a new garden topiary thing with a big cake-shaped topiary commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Food and Wine Festival right inside the EPCOT main gate. Lets all meet there at, say 10:00 AM on Saturday.

For those of you who do not already have it, PM me and I will provide you with my cel phone number so we can meet up should we get separated.

Then we will spend the day in EPCOT, and all march out the back gate of EPCOT and over to the Boardwalk for dinner. From there, we can go back into EPCOT for fireworks, and after 9:00 to some of the clubs at Boardwalk again for those who like to drink and stay up late (me!!!!)

Friday is a little less regimented. I have free entrance to Universal any time I want, so we could do Halloween Horror Nights. Or we could just go to CityWalk for a bit to eat or a drink. Or neither. As far as I'm concerened, we have the whole day together on Satuday, so maybe just a few of us will gather in smaller groups on Friday.

Thoughts???
