Good job Agne!!!

Thanks for taking the time to load those up so we could see them. Yeah Mark, why do you have a towel over your face?

I like the shot of Thor panhandling off Claudio. Dogs never miss an opportunity to snag some "people food." After that they are friends for life.

:ray:

Great pics! It was great meeting you two and it was nice to hang with Mark before he left to Nashville. Hope to do it again-in Italy!

What great photos Agne. How nice that it was through the connections you made with the people here on this forum that you had a wonderful day on the beach that otherwise would not have been possible.

I love the ocean, the Pacific better than the Atlantic! Photo's are great for memory books - and you have some nice ones from this day!

What a great day. Do you believe that I almost ate an entire big steak ? It was super. YUM !!
Jeff, Mark, I forgot to ask you: if you heard us speak Italian, do you think that Italian sounds like Spanish? I am just curious.

Somewhat. I understood some things you said. Dont remember what now, but I mentioned it to Andrea while we were at the beach. I dont speak fluent spanish, but understand alot of spanish.

That makes sense. Both Spanish and Italian (as well as French, Portuguese, and Romanian) are classified as "romance" or "italic" languages. They all descended fairly directly from Vulgar Latin, and many of the words are similar.

For example, check out the days of the week in Spanish and then Italian (yes, I had to look these up):

Lunes... Lunedi
Martes... Martedi
Miercoles... Mercoledi
Jueves... Giovedi
Viernes... Venerdi
Sabado... Sabato
Domingo... Domenica

(In case anyone was wondering, English is a "Germanic" language and is related to German, Dutch, Swedish, etc. Although, over the years, many other non-Germanic languages have influenced it--particularly French.)

Wow, very interesting !!

I can't speak Spanish, but I can understand some words because they're similar to Italian words, as your example shows.

Another example:

To fly(English) Volare(Italian) Volar(Spanish)

Volare !! :)

sorry I had to say it.

We have also couples of letters that have a particular pronunciation, for example the "gn". Nobody can say my name correctly in any place out of Italy.

Well, now that you brought it up... how do you say your name? Is it a hard "g" like in Agnes, or is it a "ny" sound like in gnocchi?

It's the "ny" sound, like gnocchi !! Does a sound like this exist in any English word? My real name is Agnese (the Italian version of Agnes) but my friends, and often also my parents, call me Agne.

Now I am confused, I do not know the word gnocchi

Help me out here is it pronounced something like our Annie then or annee
and your full name like aneese????

Agne

 Gnocchi is a particular kind of pasta, made with potatoes. Very good with meat sauce, or tomato sauce, or butter and sage.

About my name (Agnese):

the "A" sounds like "Apple".

the "gn" sounds like a "g" mixed with a "n". You can try to pronounce it like the "ny" in Canyon.

"s" is like "rose"

Both the "e" sound more or less like "exit".

So Agnese is: A-ny-e-s-e

and Agne is: A-ny-e

It's difficult to explain ! Marco, can you help me?
