With a scant few days before my flight and with the recent crashes, I got to thinking of these Charter airlines that have been involved. Are they supposed to be as meticulous in their maintenance as the major carriers? Do they have to uphold the same standards?

Whether it's equipment or pilot error, it would just seem the level of safety is not where it should be.

This leads me to my next question..and that is about Condor who I am flying out with to Germany before changing to Lufthansa on the last leg to St. Petersburg Russia.

I understand Lufthansa is the owner and there is also some affilitation with Thomas Cook (my tickets actually are from Thomas Cook) and I was just wondering if anyone has experience or insight on this company. I will be on a Boeing 767.

And yes... my primary concern is that they properly maintain their aircraft. :sigh:

Thanks

Yes they have to maintain their arcraft to the same high standard. The terms Charter refers to the frequency of flights. Charter airlines have crews and aircraft whose time they "sell" to travel companies, that is the only difference to Scheduled who do the same flights every day to the same destinations.
