Ive just seen a fantastic documentary about the new Airbus A380. It was aired over here in the UK last week but i was out so someone taped it for me. It was brilliant! Wow, what a plane. I sooooo want a ride on that one. :pompoms:
The thing that thrilled me most was the job of the test pilots. How cool a job is that! Not that i would do it if someone paid me a billion dollars but the rush they must get from doing that job. If only all you FOF could have seen what they did. It showed them testing normal passenger planes, it had them taking off on runways flooded with hundreds of gallons of water - the plane was literally swimming. Then they tested them in the Artic or somewhere where it was minus 50 deg. Then the scariest thing of all was when they made the plane bank to such steep degrees all the alarms were going off, they were just throwing it round the sky!! Ohhh i nearly forgot, they deliberately made the planes tail bit scrape along the runway during takeoff, didnt someone post a worry about that possiblility a while back? There was a hell of a noise and you should have seen the sparks!
And do you know what? Everything was fine! :coffee:
Then came the testing of the big bird itself. Oh wow. I would sell my grandmother for a ticket on that. It was incredible. :hyped:
