View Full Version : Top 5 destinations
I have been lucky enough to start travelling when I was a little child, thing that enabled me to see many beautiful places in the world.
But in my dreams there are still a lot of places to visit.
The list would be very long, so I've chosen my top 5 destinations.
The order is casual:
Australia
Mexico
Greece (continental and tour of Cicladi)
Scandinavia
Ireland
What are your top 5 destinations?

Salut Agne!
What a great idea.
My top 5 in order of preference are:
1. Japan
2. China
3. Vietnam/Thailand
4. Northern Europe - Sorry to be so general in this regard! - Germany, Scandinavia, Holland, Belgium etc)
5. A tour of the Mediterranean region: Italy, Greece, Sicily, southern France/Spain, morrocco, etc

I've seen a lot of the U.S. but not much of the rest of the world. It's hard to pick just five places, but in no particular order...
Places I've Never Seen...
- Hawaii
- Italy and France (my bf and I have a grand dream of going there together). Maybe I should just steal Kallie's Mediterranean answer, actually, because I'd love to see Spain as well.
- Russia (I almost went on an exchange there and would love to see it)
- Finland (another place I almost went on an exchange). Also Norway and Sweden, since they're right there.
- Greece
Places I Have Seen And Would Like To See More Of...
- The British Isles, England in particular (since I only sort of drove through it and didn't even see London). I'd really like to spend more time in Wales; what a beautiful place that is.
- the Pacific Northwest. I hear it's gorgeous, but I've never been there
- New England
- the South -- I have lots of friends there, and I would like to see some Gone With The Wind type stuff (the genteel plantation stuff, not the cannons and Sherman's March stuff)
- the Rockies. I've never been anywhere particularly mountainous, and I'd like to go.

Ooooh, good thread. So now that I'm airborne, the dream destinations seem more like future realities.
1) France (I am fluent and LOVE all things French but have not quite made it there yet)
2) Australia (my dad has been already 4 times this year for his business, and he LOVES it and says I would too...)
3) Italy
4) Hungary/Austria to visit ancestors' home
5) Hawaii (I need beach!!)
The France trip will happen soon. My parents said that they wanted to send me to France when I graduated (which I just did in May). I'm not sure when I'll go -- maybe over the winter holidays. But it's gotta be soon...

It seems that everyone is fascinated by Italy ... Should we organize a trip? :hyped:
For me:
Nice, France (can't get tired of it)
London (haven't been there long enough)
Rome (well, it's my home town. If I don't go my mom and dad will chop my head off)
San Fran (been there a week and loved it! wanna go back)
New Mexico (perhaps I am not in the wrong state of mind ... I am just in the wrong state :D)

Now that's a good idea...to go International. So far we have members from Italy, Canada and the U.K. We could address our fear of flying AND broaden our cultural horizons (so to speak).
Always worth considering. Although rest assured I wouldn't suggest Northwestern Ontario. It's fine if you love Lakes, Rocks and Trees and LOTS of isolation. Mind you the fishing's great and the sunsets are to die for!

I love lakes, rocks, trees and I can't stand crowds.
That's just the trip for me. :happyguy:

It just so happens that Summer 2006 I am going to Italy ... Rome to be exact ...
Are we really doing this?
:eek::mg:
Hurrah !! It would be super !!
I'd really love to see Rome again. We can visit also Florence.
And obviously the big metropolis Cesena city (only joking, there is NOTHING here). But you must absolutely try Piadina and Sangiovese di Romagna.

It is a year away... plenty of time to plan. We can even see about meeting in NYC, to jump across the pond.

Yeah but that would mean that ...

I will need to get on a plane. :mg:
Whoops ... never mind.
It sounds like a great idea! It should a blast. If anything it gives me an excuse to spend as less time as I can with my relatives :pompoms:

Wow! Looks like this really could happen! Count Andrea and I in! We have never been over the "pond" before. How ironic is it that a fear of flying site could be the sole reason we go? :tiphat:
OMG! How long of a flight is it?longer than our flight to Phx Mark???
Jeff.. from California it takes 11 hours. From New York I think only 9 hours.
Marco yes, you will need to get on a plane.. unless you decide to leave today and drive through Alaska, Russia, Poland, Gremany, Austria..
But I come back to America with you, I can't spend all my holidays here, I become allergic.

Yeah it does! I am all for it.
Well ... 8 hours to go, 9 to come back (winds from the west yah know).
But I come back to America with you, I can't spend all my holidays here, I become allergic.
Yeah ... I hear you.
That's why I didn't go this year. I got sick of it after years of going there in vacation over and over again. I wanna go to Florida or New Mexico instead this year.

Yes, sometimes I feel the need to go away and breathe. For instance now
I have to resist, only 1 month and 20 days.
Marco go to Florida !! I have been there 4 times, and had always a great time !!
But I have never been to New Mexico.
Sigh. I want to be sick of going to Italy...
