Hi !

My trip is approaching and I start feeling a little nervous. I have always flown with British Airways or Air France or Continental to go to the USA, never flown with KLM.
I am flying from Bologna to Amsterdam, KLM Cityhopper, Fokker 100 (return Fokker 70). From Amsterdam to San Francisco, KLM, B777.

What do you think of it?

Is KLM a reliable airline? Are KLM Cityhopper and KLM the same thing?

And, is it a Fokker SAFE ? The last time a flew on a fokker I was 7. I don't remember anything. I hope it is not too small !!

thank you

Agne

Fokkers are smaller as that is the niche that they have filled. It could be a 100 which is a jet that can hold 100ish passengers

And in the second photo you can see a Fokker 50 and 27 turboprop next to each other. Is the first photo yours Mark?

HA... I wish I was that good!

No it was made by Sam Chui a PROFESSIONAL aviation photographer. He travels the world making aviation photos. His website is in our resources/links. Very interesting site... you should read HIS trip reports!

The Southwest jet taking off from Las Vegas that is in the Forum Banner is his, as well as several others scattered throughout the site.

He gave us permission some time back to use his photos.

I have a friend that flies for KLM and has for several years. He was a FO on a 747 and made the transatlantic flights but he was recently promoted to a Capt on the 737 so he flies within Europe now. :ray: KLM is a great airline with an excellent safety record.

Kelley, can your friend make an exception to the rule and drive my plane?

I don't know why, I don't trust turboprops very much. I say it on the basis of nothing, it's just a feeling. When I was 7 I flew on a old moroccan turboprop from Marrackesh to Casablanca. :mg: If it happens now, I will go on foot.

Agne... If you are on a Fokker 70 or Fokker 100... those are jets, not turboprops. Right Royd???

But Turboprops are fine... they are nothing more than a jet with a prop!
