Jeff,

That happened to me too.

I had to use a different email address from the one I used for Soar.

Then I was stupid and I did a typing error on my email and ended up having to change my name.

Don't give up.

Hmmm... I have thought about that Janet. Not sure

Any suggestions???

Right now, it can be open whenever people want to go in there.

Well..you don't want to make it the same night as Tom's..because I don't know if that is fair. I think, like a Monday night sounds good..but that is up to you. Or maybe you should wait until the board gets more acclimated :) Just a suggestion.8)

I like the fact that it is open at any time for people to go into. I hope it stays that way even if there is also a set night. It's hard for me to make it in at night sometimes.

Would anybody else be up for Tuesday or Thursday night for chat? I can't do Mondays until sometime in November, as I am teaching a class on Monday nights.

As for the time frame, the, um, OBTSNBM (think 'Monty Python') used to do it 9PM till 11PM Eastern time as I recall...does that make it too late for Easterners or too early for Pacifiquers? It would work well for me in the Central time zone and I would enjoy participating.

Ok I was just trying to see if my picture worked. I think it looks wierd when I added it on - we'll see how it looks here, sorry for the off topic rambling!

Huh. It looks all "scrunched up." huh.

I agree to no on Wednesday, not only is it not fair, but if there are folks that want to participate in both, they would have to choose, and you know how I feel about that.

Would anyone want to do Sunday night??? by chance??? I usually go to the gym on the week-nights to keep up my youthful and gorgeous image! :eek

And what the heck is a "Pacifiquers"!!!! Am I one of those??? :rolleyes

And Chief, Regardless of what night it is on, it will always be available for folks to hook up.

Cheers,

Mark

Sunday night would be OK with me, too, with occasional exceptions.

Yes, Mark, you are a Pacifiquer because you live in the Pacifique time zone ;) .

There's Easterners :D , Centralers 0] , Mountainers :hat , and Pacifiquers 8) .

As for the spelling, well...it has to do with how we gringos tend to pronounce the vowels /e/ and /i/ after the consonant /c/...

www.babesandairplanes.com.../main.html (http://www.babesandairplanes.com/babes/main.html)

Quote from the "Who We Are" page on the above site:
__________________________________________________ _

The name "Babes and Airplanes" came from a long-ago posting on the AOPA website message boards by an ATP (commercial airline pilot) named Ralph, who wanted to know where he could get pictures of "good-lookin' babes and airplanes." We jumped all over him!!! How rude and sexist!!! Through us gals blabbing and joking with each other, and picking on poor Ralph, we became pals and eventually decided to take the name on for ourselves.

Through the AOPA message boards, this original group of five or six people has grown to many. Both women and men. Both younger and older. From Mexico to Alaska, from the Pacific to the Atlantic. The only prerequisite is that you must have a sense of humor. We're famous for sacrificing chickens to the checkride and weather gods. We also dream about the ideal plane, which would, of course, have a hot tub in the back. Since most pilots are men (only six percent are gals) the gal babes in the group try to coerce the "wives" into becoming pilots themselves. Our goal is to increase the current 6% female pilot population to at least 6.005% by the year 2000.

Hi, Lynda...
OK, here goes! :D

The Prime Meridian runs through Greenwich, England--hence 'Greenwich Mean Time' or 'GMT'. It is also the zero meridian among the lines of longitude which circle the Earth. Its other half is the International Date Line.

In aviation-speak we refer to GMT or Coordinated Universal Time as 'zulu time'. 'zulu' in the International Phonetic Alphabet is the name for the letter Z --/zee/ or /zed/ as some o' y'all say it. That is the list that starts with 'alpha, bravo, charlie, delta', etc. etc. Having that list memorized, and learning to say 'niner', are two of the things that distinguish pilots from normal people. :b

The time zone there in Greenwich and environs is called 'zulu' because it is the *zero* meridian...
...either that or the area around Greenwich was settled long, long ago (before the Celts came along) by very taaall cattle ranchers from Africa--ah, I seem to recall something on the Discovery Channel about that... :lol

do you happen to know why this board appears to be set for the next time zone offshore west of the Pacific zone? Or maybe Mark lives in one o' those backwoods places that don't do daylight time...
