And right after I'd made what I called my last post there.

Strangely enough, I had a feeling he would do that after I told him I was giving up agruing with him. Anything to exert power.....

Huey, I'm actually annoyed at you for getting thrown off. I had promised myself I was done posting there at this point. I saw that post where he asked you to leave and HAD to respond. I'm tempted to say that's because my development is arrested...but that would be unprincipled and simplistic...
At any rate, isn't there an old Groucho Marx line about not wanting to belong to any club that would want you.
I'm sure you know how much you've helped people and I'm happy you're here to carry on.Monica

Sorry about that, Monica. <img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/happy.gif" />

By the way, your posts on that board have been fantastic, and I really want to thank you for making them.

In nature, when something obstructs a stream, the stream stops for a moment and then continues around the impediment as if it was not there.

What we have witnessed/experienced here is fundamental nature.

First, well, I said no bashing, and I guess this is not.

But still I would like for this board to take the high road, look forward, and not back, and sincerely wish all well that are working with FOF.

However Huey, I will have to say that although not surprised at the action taken, it is dissapointing. You are an asset to a community like this.

Folks, please I asking that we not get carried away with posting topics about the other board. It really is wasted energy on our part.

I hope I don't offend anyone with this.

Thanks,

Mark

Mark, no offense taken. You should see what I erased before I actually posted before . Guess I just needed to let off a little steam. I'm done.
Actually, I couldn't agree with you more on the no bashing rule and taking the high road. So, I apologize. (And I won't even gloat about the Yankees kicking butt and start a real crazy war going here).
Huey, thanks for the feedback. And of course, right back at you.
Ray, I know people say LOL all the time but I literally laughed so hard at your post that my kids came in to see what was up with me.
It was so deep and then went into Tommy Chong. Priceless.Monica

Monica,

No apologies necessary. I know it is real tempting... Believe me! I know!

I have just carefully read the last exchanges over there. I saw right away that there is a lot of material--especially in Ken's post, but in others, including Tom's--that might be a good point of departure *away* from the sniping tit-for-tat and toward a constructive discussion about some important issues that concern us all.

Specifically, I wonder whether we might tackle: the origins of FoF, the reasons it manifests as/when it does, the ways in which various therapies work on it (without creating any sort of hierarchy), how the concept of placebo figures in...

What do effective therapies have in common? Is it truly impossible to be cured? What is it like (in terms of anxiety spikes) for "normal" fliers out there--are they flatliners? I think not :lol .

Anyway, without actually taking the first big bite just yet, I'd like to suggest we take Ken's lengthy farewell post over there as a point of departure and have us a good round table about this territory of phobia. We ALL know a lot about it, and between us, we have keys and insights and tools gleaned not only from SOAR and other therapies, but from critical self-examination.

Ken, would you be willing to repost appropriate parts of your statement to get this started?

Thanks!

Barb :D

As a relative newcomer and not having the benefit of history with that group, I can only shake my head at what's gone on. Some of it is hard not to comment on though, trust me, I've been sitting on my hands:)

Barb, glad you likd my last post there. Unfortunately, it has been deleted along with all the other's comment's. I guess the challenge was a little too much for him.

Mark, I'm trying hard not to go ape over this either but there's bound to be some discussion after what's just happened. I'll kep my comments and emotions civil.

Well, I just tried to get on the other site and can't. I guess I too have been voted off the Island. My understanding is that a post I wrote was deleted as well.
Glad there's a new place to go to. Time to move on. Honestly, the last few days I have been enjoying being here and being able to concentrate on posting on FOF issues(and not getting aggravated when I did sign on). So, I'm all for forward movement. Monica

Monica,

It looks like my tiki torch over there got snuffed as well--either that or that forum is flat-out down at the moment. If so, it went down while I was over there, and I got a 'page cannot be displayed' message when I attempted to get into a thread.

In any case, YOUR message is not lost either; I have saved that whole thread (and many others) elsewhere, because I feared that it would soon be deleted. I can send you whatever you like of your recent posts there. I still hope that the constructive, insightful things from that last thread (Huey's departure) in particular--with good posts by several of you--might help us get a baby Phoenix hatching out of the ashes. I feel the process would allow us to vent constructively, without bashing, and to build some good FoF infrastructure. But of course we have the wherewithal to just jump in and do that without starting with that thread.

I think that forum was just down for a bit; I was able to go back in, so perhaps you can, too, as we both had trouble at about the same time.

Suggestion,

If people need to put some sort of closure on this , may be you could meet at chat to do this rather than continue to bring it up on the boards.

I agree that it is very difficult not to keep going on about Soar when so many of us hurt, it is however not good for new people coming on to the board to see the mess that went on there.
