Hi all,

I am flying SEA-EWR in a couple of weeks on United, which is normally my favorite airline. But I just read in the paper a couple of days ago that United is about to jettison their pension plan for all of their employees. So I am having anxiety because if I had just found out my pension plan was being eliminated I would be kind of bummed and maybe not totally dedicated to doing my job. Can any of you reassure me that I should not worry about how motivated the United employees are to do their job well?

By the way, once I stop thinking it is all about ME and MY fear, I also wonder if I should be flying United because it kind of sucks that they are considering doing this to their employees.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Peace,
Becky

Hi Becky,

You know, I hear what you are saying and your point is well taken...l but try to think of it this way...

As much trouble as many of the airlines are in, imagine what kind of hot water they would find themselves in if they suffered an accident due to negligence!

United is not the only airline in financial hot water. In fact, they are not the airline in the MOST dire straits.

Also, remember this.. The pilots are in the same airplane you are flying in, and they are up front! No pilot would fly an airplane they feel is unsafe.

Additionally, you have to remember that the airline industry is highly regulated. You really can't cut corners, especially as far as safety issues are concerned.

I know this may not totally convince you, but rest assured you will be fine.

Happy Flyin'!!!
