Hi,
I posted on other board as ‘I shall fly’
I’ve been too busy in recent weeks to post anywhere but have been looking at this board and it’s so good to see familiar names (and new ones) and so much useful advice. This board seems very supportive-seems like everyone is here to help people to fly and not getting sidetracked with other destructive issues.
I’m considering booking a flight- just considering at the moment, don’t know if I can go through with it, but I'm working on it.
Thanks for starting the board Mark.
Yvonne (UK).

Yvonne!!

So good to see you here, I agree this board is very supportive and when you finally decide to make that flight we will support you through it.

How about a flight from London to Manchester, we could all meet up again!

Yvonne,

Fantastic, and welcome! How is school going?

Our Meeting in Manchester is posted under my flight reports, and Lynda posted a photo as well!

Again welcome!

Really enjoyed reading your reports Mark, as always. Great pictures, too.
Lynda, perhaps we should have a 'fest' for this board sometime.
Thanks again for your ongoing support.
Yvonne.

Hi Yvonne
Nice to see (or read!) that there's another friendly face from the UK on here -I am from Macclesfield (near Manchester) - along with Lynda (Disney Fan) (who I just read was from the UK too!).
I am sorry you are not sure if you can go through with actually taking a flight at the moment. I have flown 6 times this year (I've got good friends who live in France) but before then I hadn't flown for about 10 years. I had a turbulant flight to Spain so I stopped flying altogether. However, on 1st January 2004 I made a resolution to get over my fear and get back on the bird! I booked my ticket in May this year (it's so nerve racking actually going through with booking the ticket - it took me 5 months to do it once I had made my mind up I would fly again!) and I am getting better with it. The SOAR message board, and now this one, helped (and continues to help) me so much. I have more knowledge and with that has come a new found confidence. I hope you can take that first step and book your flight. The FA's will look after you and the Captain will make sure you are safe. The sense of satisfaction you get when you arrive at your destination makes it all the more worthwhile. Good luck! :)

Thanks kelley.
It isn’t that I won’t fly. I had a gap of 15 years without flying after a bad experience. I have flown since finding the Soar board- on a family holiday earlier this year and I was so glad I did.
The issue now is will it be worth all the worry again just for a short trip abroad? Or would I be better to stay in this country? Now that I’ve typed it I know the answer (not the latter!) I just don’t know if it’s worth going through so much just to prove to myself that I can fly. I think what I’m saying is that the trip really has to be worth it.

Hi Yvonne - lovely to see you've found your way here. Nice to hear from you again.

I can understand exactly what you mean about the trip having to be worth it to put yourself through the mill. You need to choose somewhere to go next that you've always wanted to go to and that will be an incentive.

However - how about that trip to Arizona you've got in the pipeline? Any short trip that you do now will be a stepping stone towards that one.

Nice to hear from you Rosie.
I will try to think about this trip (if it happens) as a stepping stone towards Arizona. The beauty of the Arizona trip is that it is still a long way off so no need to start worrying yet. And when the time comes it will be such an incredible trip that I will (hopefully) force myself to do it.
Anyway, I'll keep you posted.
