I hope he does come over here.

I went over to the "other board" today just to check it out. I guess some rather personal attacks were made on me while I was gone - and concerned my husband - who many of you know has a serious condition called Neurofibromatosis. One of the newbies said that they thought I would end up an old maid because I was so rude and mean, and EVERYONE of the old timers jumped to my defense (Bonnie, Huey, etc.) to say that they hope I DONT become and old maid because my husband is having medical problems.

It made me feel really nice that they would do that. Actually I cried, I hate to admit. I'm scared that I would lose my husband Steve, and it makes me mad at myself that some idiot with a loud mouth who didnt even KNOW what they were really saying would get to me. I'm sure they had no idea about Steve, etc.

Anyway - I guess my point is that I hope that Huey comes over here along with Beaugest, Bonnie and the like. It was really nice to see that they were SO SUPPORTIVE. Tom didnt even say a word of reprimand to them. It made me feel really really bad that it got to that level of viciousness. Oh well, I'm not trying to "trash" the other board, just to say that I hope that some of my friends from over there will come here too.

Vester, the personal attacks toward you were way over the edge, and it would appear it's not only condoned, but encouraged by the administration. I don't want to see a flame war either, but I will just say I was sitting on my hands whilst reading that one :rolleyes

I'm glad you found comfort in those who support you, and just remember to consider the source of the insults.

And a message to the trolls:
If you hate a person, you hate something in him that is part of yourself. What isn't part of ourselves doesn't disturb us.

Vester,
I saw that attack by FG last night and I alerted some of the other old timers to that post. It made me mad enough that I could not respond to it last night. I still can't respond to it. It was heartless and vicious and she obviously has never been in the situation of watching a loved one suffer. I have been in that situation and my prayers go out to you and your family.

Chelle: Your quote at the bottom really rang true for me.

I felt like I hated this person for saying these horrible things about me and my husband.

But then I realized that I'm just scared that something might happen to my husband one day and THAT is really what I "hate" and am upset about. Its good to realize that - so I dont feel upset.

And MadSci: Thank you -- thank you -- thank you. You dont know (you really DONT.) how much all that means to me.

Thanks for all your support - and everyone elses. :)

I just was reading with my jaw dropped when I saw all that "over there."

Vester,

I just read what was said over there and was shocked speechless. I'm so sorry that they feel it was appropriate. I think I've had my limit of the goings-on over there.

Mind if I shoot you an e-mail? -- I'm going to try that PM thingie, but I'm kind of a computer idiot...

Vester, I was really, really hoping that you didn't see that crap. And I do mean crap(excuse my language all but there is no polite word for it).
It was cruel. I hope you realize that only a very sick troubled individual would go to that level. i would suggest you try very hard not to personalize it. I know that's easier said than done. But sick people strike out blindly---their attacks can land on you, on me or on anyone. Try and focus on the responses that were personal. Because those were the ones who know you, are rooting for you and in my book the ones that count. They were the ones who had nothing but warm thoughts to send your way. I'm so sorry you were exposed to that.

Hugs Vester! I too was in shock and couldnt even think of a reply to that post over there that wouldnt be more than me lashing back out at FG and the administration about encouraging such behavior.

I hope Huey peeks his head over here. He has really been a huge source of humor and support for me and many others. The only problem with staying on a site with an unstable leader is the "guilt by association" that could occur.

Lets all play nice over here! :)

Thanks, Kel.

Hi Stacey.

I'm worried that without Tom here to back me up and correct things, I'll get all the aviation tech stuff wrong. <img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/eyes.gif" />

I'll try not to let you down. :)

Oops sorry, the above post was supposed to be from me. I'm helping the Captain with something and was logged in with the wrong global account.

Hi Huey (from Chelle) *waves* LOL

First off if anyone does the Huey dance can we try and have it broadcasted live here. And more importantly if Huey dances back can we see that?
Huey, glad you bounced over. Just saw the very compassionate thread you posted for Vester. Well said.
I'll help you out if your aviation stuff starts getting off course. No worries..
I've been taking a class that has great details...like what size rubber bands hold the propellers on and just how many people need to lean to the side so the plane can turn properly... Monica

Awww Mad. you're already Mad. remember? I'm excited everytime someone pops up here and we focus on Fof issues. I have to say it's a relief after the last few days.
It's good to see you here. Is there a Mad dance as well...

Huey, I'd like to second what beaugest has said--here and over there--about your thoughtful and compassionate posts when it became obvious that FG had sunk to out-of-control hurtful depths. Somebody needed to break the vicious cycle; Bonnie and Monica and Beth and you have been champs in daring to try to do so. Thanks.

Let's hear it BarB!

Robbie's rabbit had the rabies, and was thus a rabid rabbit,
But it got away from Robbie ere the agile lad could grab it!
You mustn't blame the youngster, for the rabies weren't Robbie's,
And he had the rabbit habit, which is not the worst of hobbies.

Little Robbie shouted "stop it!"--a remark a trifle vapid,
And the only thing it did was make the rabid rabbit rapid!
The rabider, the rapider, until in progress fleet,
It met a pair of rabbis who were coming down the street.

Said rabbi unto rabbi, "yonder rabbit has the rabies!
You know how rabbits multiply; it might have rabid babies!
Our duty to society quite plainly is to nab it!"
And the rabbis ran so rapidly they caught the rabid rabbit.

But the rabbit bit the rabbis as they undertook to drub it,
And they stood in some discomfort while the rabble shouted, "rub it!".
Then the rabbit chased the rabble till it hid in sundry lobbies;
Now the rabbis have the rabies but the rabbit still is Robbie's.

*************

I have no idea who wrote this!
I found it typed on a sheet of paper with no author named; it was in what was called the "Funny File" at the US Geological Survey's Paleontology and Stratigraphy Division (amid other rare gems) in the Smithsonian. I hand-copied and memorized it when I worked there for a year some decades ago. Hmmm...I haven't tried an internet search....be right back...

still...the poster (who presented a somewhat different version of the poem) had no idea who wrote it! And that was the only link that had it...

we have a mystery on our hands, Mad...
