Ah the joys of air travel, airplanes bring you to "venues" (Monica has now added that to her vocabulary) far away to see people you adore! Monica, her Jenny and me and a friend stood in line for an hour to get into a PACKED concert hall to see the one and only Backstreet Boys. The show was high energy and lots of fun and I got all of my networking done at the same time.
You know that old saying - "If it's too loud, you're too old?" well we are DEFINITELY not too old but we learned a new lesson last nite - our feet are too feeble to stand on concrete for 5 hours straight!!! :rotflmao:
Here is a picture of Monica enjoying the show (which was SRO - standing room only):

I made Monica turn around for the picture!
No drooling here - I was "working". :)

Your Boys got an "eh-eh" review in today's NY Daily News:

They're lost Boys
Beloved in '90s, Backstreet stuck in no man's land
http://www.nydailynews.com/ips_rich_content/961-backstreet.JPGThe Backstreet Boys last night Can it really be just five years since the Backstreet Boys ruled the pop stage?
At their Irving Plaza "comeback" show last night, the harmonies, hooks and gestures of this ultimate teen group of the late '90s seemed as ancient as artifacts from the Ming dynasty.
Every time its members made one of their dewy-eyed entreaties to an idealized "girl," or jerked through their trademark theme-park dance moves, or joined their voices for another creamy harmony, they seemed more jarringly irrelevant to current pop.
At this point, they've fallen into that dangerous no man's land between stardom and nostalgia.
Not that the Irving Plaza crowd seemed to mind. The fans were simply thrilled to see the Boys in such a small hall (capacity: 800) after years when they played 20,000-seat arenas. Even in their current, commercially iffy state, the group still could have drawn more fans than this. But last night's show was part of a tour to lure back their core audience before they release a new album this summer.
The guys offered a clutch of songs from that album, which hinted at their plans for an update. One song substituted the word "woman" for girl in its title. Another made an ill-advised attempt to butch up the band by leaning toward rock-rap. Suffice it to say, the result sounded as convincing as Joni Mitchell doing Limp Bizkit.
For this tour, the group greatly scaled down its show. There were no backup dancers, video screens or theatrics. But the guys performed their usual cornball choreography with almost admirable naivete.
They also showed their better side in irresistible hits like "Shape of my Heart," "The One," "Show Me the Meaning" and especially the blissful "I Want It that Way." Although no one in the group was in his best voice last night, they put over the hits with earnest appeal. In fact, now that the group, and its ilk, no longer threaten to taint all of pop music, they can be better appreciated for what they always provided - a worthy soundtrack to a sweet phase.
