We are a few days in to our 12 week Slimming campaign, How are you all doing, No cheating now, I am keeping my eye on you even when I am sleeping!
It is hard going for me at present but I am commited!

I have decided that my main problem (besides the stupid meds and the bum ankle - excuses, excuses) is that I keep FOOD at my desk. BIG mistake. I am officially cleaning out all the food from my office upstairs and if I want a snack I have to go downstairs and portion out a SMALL portion in a baggie and climb the stairs again to bring my snack upstairs to eat it. I also have cut WAY down on my Pepsi consumption from 1 to 2 a day to 1 every other day (yeah I know I need to cut them all out but I am weaning myself...).
Also today I am wearing jeans that are a bit snug so I am not tempted to EAT much! I had soup for lunch (yummy Progresso makes several with no onions).
Lynda is there a resource for exercises you can do at your desk? I have 3 lb hand weights here but I need to work on my TUMMY toning...
:) How is everyone else doing?

Exercises to do in your office
Now you can't find any more excuses for not going to the gym. There are exercises that you can do while in the privacy of your own office and best of all is that you don't need any gym equipment.
Tone that tummy
If, in an effort to tone your tummy, you find stomach crunches too difficult and the abdominal equipment found in stores too time consuming, it doesn't mean that you should lay-off ab exercises all together. This tummy toner can be done while sitting at your desk:
While sitting in an upright position on your chair, tighten your abdominal muscles and breathe in
Hold this position for 10 seconds
Breathe out and release the abdominal muscles
Repeat this exercise 30 times
Butt beautiful
So you've been blessed with a more-than-ample behind but that is not your problem. Your problem is that your bottom is not as firm as it used to be. Try this exercise for toning and shaping your butt:
Stand with your feet shoulder width apart, your back straight and your shoulders relaxed
Tighten your buttocks and breath in and push your hips somewhat forward
Hold for 10 seconds
After 10 seconds, release the tension in your buttocks and breath out
Do 20 to 30 repetitions of this exercise
This is another great exercise for shaping your bottom:
Stands with your legs shoulder width apart
Rest your hands lightly against a surface that is about chest level
Extend your one leg. Remember to keep the leg straight
Hold for about five seconds
Now slowly bring your leg back to the starting position
Alternate your legs
Say good-bye to thunder thighs
Your once slim thighs are now a thing of the past but the following exercise will help to strengthen your inner and outer thighs. Use an exercise mat when performing this exercise.
Lie on your back, your arms at your sides and your palms down against the mat with your legs together. Inhale
Now exhale and pull your abs up and in toward your spine (to help stabilise your lower back)
Bring your right knee to your chest and then raise the leg in the air, at a 90 degree angle to the floor. Try to keep your leg as straight as possible but if you can't keep your raised leg straight, bend the knee a little
Rotate your raised leg slightly so that your toes point away from the right side of your body
Keep your body, especially the backs of your hips, pressed to the floor
Make about 10 small circles in the air (in a clockwise direction) with your right foot
Now do ten circles in the opposite direction
Bring your right knee back to your chest and then to the floor
Repeat this exercise with your left leg

Chest Firmer
While seated or standing, put your palms together in a prayer position. Press your hands together for 5 seconds. Relax and repeat twice.
Bun Lifter
Squeeze your buttocks muscles for 5 seconds and release. Repeat 10 times. Each squeeze is equal to one squat!

Sit upright in a chair. Hold on to the arms of the chair or a point under the seat of the chair. With your feet together and knees bent, lift your knees toward your chest while contracting your abdominal muscles. Hold for 3 to 5 seconds. Sit up straight with your feet flat on the floor. Bring one leg out straight in front of you. Maintaining good posture, with your back straight and chin lifted, hold your leg up for 5 to 10 seconds. Lower leg, then repeat with opposite leg. Repeat twice with each leg

I did just eat two mini peanut butter cups, but I'd like you all to forget that, because I'm doing well otherwise.
For this board's project, I'll have my official weigh-in on Friday, but since I started my diet on a Tuesday, I have my own official weigh-in on Tuesdays.
In addition to shedding those pesky water pounds of last week, I've lost another pound (maybe two, I can't tell because the lines on my scale are really close together and to look that at them from five + feet away while I'm standing on the scale, especially first thing in the morning, it's hard to tell). That makes a grand total of 6 or 7. Let's say 6, to be on the safe side. I've also lost another half inch off of my waist and another half inch off of my hips. That is, assuming that I'm measuring in the exact same place from week to week.

I am a night /evening eater. I have to go to bed early with a book to stop me eating. I am often in bed by 9.30, I do get up by 5.30 - 6 am though.
It is the sweetie ( candy) jar that gets to me also I am quite addicted to those Jelly Belly things. Why can't I be addicted to lettuce or spinach!!!

Chelle, I'm a big breakfast pigger outer. I don't have time to make breakfast in the morning, so I took a hint from babies. I got some Cheerios (and other cereal that makes good finger food) and put like half a cup in a baggie. I eat that for breakfast every day. Or I'll get some of those Nutri Grain bars and just keep them in the car and eat one for breakfast every day. Those things are also good for snacks.

I'm still waiting for that procedure where they suck the fat out of my belly and thighs and insert it into my boobage. I did ask Kenny if that was covered under the Shiloh insurance plan. This was his answer: :rotflmao:
Okay I broke down and went and got red hots but I am eating them 1 at a time and pacing myself. Sigh... They are made by Brach's, Chelle, and are called Cinnamon Imperials. YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMY!
Thanks for the exercises, Lynda. I dont see how sucking my tummy in will make it flatter but I'll try anything at this point! :)

If he says no, just say, "then I know a gorgeous girl in Chicago who would gladly be paid window dressing.";)
By the way, I heard on the radio that the Backstreet Boys are going to be in Chicago. I should go to the concert, meet them and then it would be like meeting you, six-degrees style!

I think "boobage" is a girl term that we use among ourselves to discuss cleavage. I have never heard a guy use that word before! :)

Exercise To Increase Breast Size - Does It Work?
Much has been written about exercise to increase breast size. The fact is that the breasts are not muscles and will not benefit directly from exercise, massage or any other form of stimulation. So although you can't exercise to increase breast size, you can strengthen and develop the pectoral muscles in the chest to get indirect lift and support for the breast tissue.
While exercise to increase breast size is only an indirect solution, it's worth a try. Remember to use resistance (weights) when performing these exercises. It's not necessary to use a lot of weight. Start with 3 to 5 pound hand dumbbells. Here are a couple of exercises you can try.
Bench Press: Lie on your back on an exercise bench. Place your feet flat on the floor about shoulder width apart. Hold the dumbbells at chest level. The ends of the dumbbells should point out to the side. Inhale and straighten your arms until they are fully extended. Exhale and lower your arms back to the starting position. Although this is not an exercise to increase breast size, it will strengthen the muscles in the upper chest.
Pullover: Lie on your back on the exercise bench. Place your feet flat on the floor about shoulder width apart. Grasp a single dumbbell with both hands and straighten your arms. Inhale and lower the dumbbell backwards until you feel a gentle stretch in your ribcage. Do not lock your elbows. Exhale and return to the starting position. The pullover will strengthen the muscles of the mid-chest and is not an exercise to increase breast size.
