Thank you so much. I've been lurking for a while, and have found this board quite helpful and reassuring.

I have been flying all my life, and have never really liked it, but always did it, the choice was not presented to me. There was a period from age 18 to about 30 where I didn't fly at all, and I simply forgot what the normal sounds and feels of flying were. I have flown about 7 times in the last five years, and have become quite anxious about it. I'm flying to Cuba on Feb/27 for the first real holiday with my husband ever. Very excited, but also nervous. I've been reading this forum for the past few weeks, and have been greatly comforted by the support, and info provided. Anyone else here from Toronto?

As I said, when I was a kid, I never loved flying, but I was pretty used to it, having to do it about 6 times a year return trips included. It's so funny, when I took my first flight about 5 years ago to NYC, I hadn't flown in about 12 years. The poor guy next to me must have thought I was nuts because I gripped the arms of the seat in a death hold for the entire flight, which thankfully was only about an hour.

I had a great experience though this past summer when I flew to Montreal. Of course there I am clutching the seat in my usual fashion, the lady next to me noticed I was afraid. Turns out she's a FA heading back home. She totally reassured me about WestJet (the flight we were on), and got me through a very bumpy, swaying landing. Apparently, this is quite normal for Montreal, but I didn't know that, and if she hadn't told me, I would have freaked out. She just talked me through the whole thing. It never ceases to amaze me the willingness of pilots, and FA's to help a nervous flyer. I mean, she wasn't on duty or anything.

I'm feeling much more confidant of my flight to Cayo Coco on Sunday night. We're flying Transat, which is supposed to be a good airline. I would love to hear more about them, but haven't found a lot of experiences.

Greetings/Salut Mercier from a fellow Canadian,

I have just recently joined this forum and have found it to be quite helpful, and very welcoming.

Two things I picked up right away: There is no such thing as a dumb question; and it doesn't matter what you ask, you will always get a reply.

As far as the replies go, the nice thing about this is you can expect not just the facts that you are looking for - but also the folks here do understand how all this FOF stuff feels.

It's nice to be understood at a feeling level.

Kallie
