My husband called our airline to book a seat for our infant. We asked if they have discount rates for infants and they said no. We are flying a discount airline for Southwest so I assume it's cause they are cheap already? I don't know much about this so I appreciate your patience for my ignorance. We plan to buy a ticket for our infant as well. Although right not the March 9 flight departure from St Louis and March 19 return from Hobby, Houston, TX have PLENTY of seats.

I thank you so much for educating us on airplane safety and carseats or else we would have blindly taken our children on with NO carseats. My husband has flown quite a bit and hasn't experienced bad turbulence. But he agrees it's better than feeling guilty for not having spent a little money to save our precious daughters lives.

I called our reservations people and they said they DO offer the reduced rate fares for infants. They quoted me $240 round-trip for those dates and city pairs for an infant. I am not sure how the pricing works, but it is apparently offered in some fashion. At any rate, if the flight has open seats already then of course you can get away with not purchasing the seat for the infant. However, what happens if the flight fills up within the last 48 hours? It may... it may not.

Ultimately, it boils down to choice. With knowledge comes comfort, true. Kowledge also enables one to make informed and wise decisions. Whatever you decide to do, I sincerely hope you enjoy your flight.

Start a 3 day trip tomorrow a.m. See y'all next week. :tiphat:
