We rent alot of movies since blockbuster started its monthly program. Some are lame and some are great. If you watch a new release, and its truly lame or great, post here so we can rent it or avoid it!!
What made me post this? We just finished watching "The Notebook". GREAT! What an emotional rollercoaster! I am glad I didnt see that in the theater cause I would have to sit there when it ended to get back my composure. I really liked it. Very sweet.

Good Idea Jeff!!!
At all costs... AVOID --- STAR CAPTAIN AND THE DAY AFTER TOMMAR OW --- I think that is the title, something like that.
I have tried to watch it twice and fell asleep both times!
Another one is THE VILLAGE. On this one, it may have been me as I don't get into those weird movies too much. But anyhows... I would avoid it.

Just saw The Aviator. Surprised at all the "Best Picture" Oscar talk. Don't think it rises to that level at all.
I think Martin Scorsese did a pretty poor job, in the way he presented the life of Howard Hughes.
Colors were distorted and unreal in many scenes. The grass was always blue, during the affair with Katie portion. In other scenes the colors, again, were not real.
Too many scenes drawn out to a tedious experience. He could have made his point in much less time. Total time of the movie (without any intermission), was 2 hours and 40 minutes.
Di Caprio's acting was good, but he was laboring with a poor plot structure millstone hanging about his neck.
I give it about 4 stars, out of 10 possible.

I haven't seen that, but based on all the Oscar talk, I figure I won't make it a point to do so. I don't know why, but "critcally acclaimed" movies that win a lot of awards are hardly ever my kind of movies.

When I was visiting my parents, I lifted their copy of Titanic. It's totally my guilty pleasure movie. The problem is, my boyfriend doesn't like it, so I either have to guilt him into watching it or do it sometime when he's not home.

I watched a DVD the other night called Man on Fire, really enjoyed it, about Kidnapping in Mexico City. Quite violent in places but a real glued to the TV film.

Still in theaters but The Wedding Date is GREAT! Also Ladder 49 is a good movie but again one of the emotional ones (especially for firefighter's wives).
Taking the kids to see "Because of Winn Dixie" tonite - that is my oldest daughter's FAVORITE book!

Why don't you steer claer of the latest. When I stayed in the US I loved the fact the Blockbusters was so large that they carried all kinds of films not the latest Yawnathons. Try some classics: The thing by John Carpenter, Prince of Darkness, Airplane or just go in and grab a couple. Really awful B movies can be entertaining with you and your friends chating away taking the mickey
