hello everyone,
I'm glad to see that -passenger Mark- created this board. I posted a couple of times on the other board, and I don't see familiar names there anymore. I'm glad I've found you guys here. I'm looking forward to reading and posting topics related to fear of flying. I have a flight coming up in December to Switzerland, to visit my family: 11 hours- yikes..... but i'm getting better with my fear, and I'm still nervous, but I'm trying to replace the fear with excitement.:woohoo

Hey Aurora, so are you able to let those feelings of excitement happen? Sounds like you have a great trip planned.

Welcome.

Oooooh, I'm jealous. I would love to visit Switzerland but since I don't have relatives and I'm not a good skiier, I don't think I will make it any time soon.

I do love chocolate, though!

Glad to see ya here.

Yes I'm so excited, I haven't gone home in 10 years, mainly because of the distance, and alright, I admit it, my fear of flying. Planes and I used to be friends :dunno

I don't know what happened I'm trying to work through my fear, and I look at it that way: my ultimate reward for flying is to see my family and friends I haven't seen in so long. My husband and I did a "practice" flight from LAX to Vegas (short 45 minutes) I got to try Ativan, which worked great for me. Now I know I can do it, I still have anxiety, but being here and learning more and more that planes are safe is such a big help. The only concern is the distance, LAX to zurich is 11 hours 8o

I'm not much of a fan of those longer trips myself. However, I pleasantly surprised myself when we flew to England. At some point I just settled into the flight and relaxed. And the rewards of being in another country( I love England and get mad that I stall on going over) are well worth the trip.
Places to go, people to see...that's why this board is great.

Hi and welcome! :welcome

That's so exciting about Switzerland. I totally understand how you feel. I'm flying to Paris on Thursday and I have been working really hard on focusing on my excitement about Paris instead of on my fear about getting there and back again!
