Hi all,
I made it!!! I flew to the east coast and back to the west coast. Got out just in time for the big storms. :pompoms:
The flights were not too bad and I think I did really good. I had a chat with one of the flight attendants and shared my fear of flying, and she couldn't tell that I was nervous!
I am still nervous about upcoming flights, but I feel good that I was able to make this trip. I also got to see Manhattan. What a great place!!!
Thanks to everyone for their support.

Hoooray! :pompoms:
So glad you had great flights. Isn't it amazing how talking to the flight crew eases your fears? They do this EVERY DAY and love it.
And you are right - Manhattan from the air is a beautiful sight. Cant wait until I see it again!

Great going!!!
And that is good that you spoke with a flight attendant. It always helps to let them know what is going on.
Did you meet the pilots???
Welcome back to California!

Hi all,
I am just curious. Many folks have said that they get to actually meet the pilots pre flight. Is that still possible with all the security measures in place.
I typically always thank the pilot when I am leaving the plane, but have never had the chance to meet prior to the flight and let them know I am a fearful flyer.

Congrats!!!! :pompoms: That's been my experience, but for no more than practical reasons...boarding people are jammed up in front of you and pushing from behind. There's generally no opportunity to meet-and-greet unless the pilot is part of the greeting party. I always look in the cockpit area to see the Capt. and FO and keep my eyes focused there much of the time. For me, that's all I need to keep me calm.
Wish you continued good luck on your next flight...keep the confidence and forget the worry! :)

Every journey requires a first step and you made yours. Each step in the future will be a little easier.
Meeting the pilots is not always a given because we sometime get busy with critical pre-flight stuff (lunch!) and one of us is away from the plane. The other person has to stay with the plane when it's powered up so they can't come to you in the boarding area. The TSA won't allow anyone on board until formal boarding starts. The only certain way is to ask the FA when you are boarding if it's OK to ask the pilot a question. Most welcome passengers even if they are busy up front.
You weren't flying from Providence to Phoenix with me last Saturday on SWA flt 1654 were you? We flew right down the Connecticut shoreline and right by Manhattan.
Best of luck in your future travels!
