As I wrote at the end of my last trip report, the trip home, was... well... boring!
I guess that is a good thing. I did it again, and looked at the weather channel, but only once this time the morning of the flight. It showed all clear with the exception of over New Mexico where they were showing T-storms.
A friend of mine and I were talking about it, and she said, well can't they just fly south of New Mexico??? Yea... If they want to go to Mexico! :eek
Anyways, was not as nervous, maybe because of my flight out, don't know. It was also a morning flight, and the air is usually calmer.
Took one Ativan that morning, and wanted to try and not take any more than that. Arrived at Nashville about an hour early, checked in, and they once again let me go down and meet the flight crew. Another B737-700, with winglets, and nice leather seats.
They said it should be a calm flight, no weather to speak of. I asked about New Mexico, and the Captain said, "well you always get something over the rockies in the summer, but they should be able to steer around it".
Took my seat, and before long we were backing out...

Waved bye to Nashville and we were off to the runway...
http://img43.photobucket.com/albums/v132/mark9091/Nasville%20to%20Ontario/th_B_BNA_Terminal.jpg
We taxied out, no waiting, took to the runway, and started rolling...

We took off,
http://img43.photobucket.com/albums/v132/mark9091/Nasville%20to%20Ontario/th_D_Were_off.jpg
and made a wide turn to the left coming back to the west, and began or climb. No bumps, no shakes, no rattles, just a nice clean climb. At 10K the ding came on to let us use our portable electronic devices, and we continued climbing.
We were soon above what clouds there were...
http://img43.photobucket.com/albums/v132/mark9091/Nasville%20to%20Ontario/th_E_Above_the_clouds.jpg
And in about 30 minutes were crossing the mighty Mississippi river...
http://img43.photobucket.com/albums/v132/mark9091/Nasville%20to%20Ontario/F_Cross_the_miss.jpg
We soon reached our crusing altitude and the seat belt sign came off. We crossed over the Nation, and in no time we were nearing New Mexico...
http://img43.photobucket.com/albums/v132/mark9091/Nasville%20to%20Ontario/th_G_Rockies_newmexico.jpg
And it was not long that I could see the storm clouds in the distance...
http://img43.photobucket.com/albums/v132/mark9091/Nasville%20to%20Ontario/th_H_Storm_clouds_brewing.jpg
Once again the pilots just "steered" around them without hardly a bump. And once again I got to stare my feared monster eye-to-eye!
http://img43.photobucket.com/albums/v132/mark9091/Nasville%20to%20Ontario/th_I_Storm_clouds.jpg
Soon we were over Arizona...
http://img43.photobucket.com/albums/v132/mark9091/Nasville%20to%20Ontario/th_J_Arizona.jpg
And flying over Lake Havasu City...
http://img43.photobucket.com/albums/v132/mark9091/Nasville%20to%20Ontario/J_Lake_Havasu.jpg
As we crossed the Colorado River, we entered California Airspace!
http://img43.photobucket.com/albums/v132/mark9091/Nasville%20to%20Ontario/K_Colorado_River.jpg
We came around the San Bernardino Mountains on our approach into Southern California...
http://img43.photobucket.com/albums/v132/mark9091/Nasville%20to%20Ontario/th_San_Berdo_Mountains.jpg
And into the Southern California Smog!!! :(
As we made our approach into Ontario, we went pass the California Speedway (NASCAR), but because of the smog, not a good view...
http://img43.photobucket.com/albums/v132/mark9091/Nasville%20to%20Ontario/L_Calif_Speedway.jpg
Over the rental car lot, a little closer to the ground, then WHOA BIG BOY!!! We landed!

http://img43.photobucket.com/albums/v132/mark9091/Nasville%20to%20Ontario/th_O_Whoa_Big_boy.jpg
We taxied to the gate, and ding... Everybody jump up!
I thanked the crew, and got my photo...
http://img43.photobucket.com/albums/v132/mark9091/Nasville%20to%20Ontario/P_Crew_and_me.jpg
We pulled into the same gate (404) that I had such a hard time at back at Christmas! What a difference. Now it was back to work! :\
Thanks yall,
Mark
